hey all i have a forum but am getting annoyed at the support site as if i suggest something i get put down and belittled publically basically i am trying to find some new software to run the forum.
i would rather have free soft ware that is easily customisable and that possibly has a converter to convert my existing posts and members to the new system.
Would also like it so i can host it my self as i have my hosting here
and i would like it to have a photo gallery(intergrated or add-on)
let me know your thoughts either in this thread or
on my forum here http://www.lab-lovers.com/index.php?topic=46.new#new.
all help greatly appreciated

Are you saying that people here are beating you up??? If so, I think I have missed it and need to investigate.

As for forums, there are many you can choose from. Wait, I think you meant to say that you run SMF right now and are not getting support from SMF.

I've always like phpBB myself, personal preference. If you want to import your other topics, then you need to see what forums we provide, then go to the web and see if there are smf to ____ converters out there. Easiest thing to do is play around with the software and see what it does/does not do for you.

As for picture galleries, my personal pic is coppermine. Once again, these are my prefs and others may not agree.

yes i'm not getting support at the smf support forum.
not this forum i only use this if i have problems normally but i thought users here may also run forums so i'll ask here.
i checked the forums i can install from the control panel they either to complicated or don't have features i want personally i prefer vb but can't afford it maybe if my site was more popular would be worth the investment. i also tryed phpbb found it to tricky to customize and add my own logos and such like.
is coppermine also easily intergrated with most forum software as i would want it to have the same look and feel as the forum.

Hopefully, one of the other users here can answer your questions better then. I can troubleshoot, but I dont personally use this stuff enough to know all the capabilities.

Anyone have answers?

ive used SMF etc but not to the full extent as it was only cos i was looking for something "better" than E107 but i ended up going back to E107 due to the ease of it for me personally

if you want to get in touch with me via PM and tell me what you want and i'll "try" and help you whilst i'm not doing much yet
